The best investment you can make

Jan 14, 2019

The best investment you can make is in yourself.

Let me pose a question on this. Actually, a few...

How much time and money do you spend each week, in total - doing the following:

  • Brushing your teeth
  • Washing/brushing/drying/styling your hair (geez, I’m exhausted just thinking about it!)
  • Doing your makeup
  • Shopping for new outfits
  • Washing those outfits
  • Choosing which outfit to wear
  • Annnnd the rest...brows, haircuts and colors, tanning, getting your nails done, waxing your lady bits…

Turns out the average women spend PER YEAR is $3,500 on beauty and $10k on clothes. That’s over $260 a week.

If you’re at all surprised by those numbers then go and tally up your beauty and shopping habits over the last year. Go on, I dare you.

Ok, so that’s a decent stack of dough. Let me be clear - I am not saying that the external stuff isn’t important. Just as long as you’re doing it for you ie self care, not because you’re waiting for someone to compliment you and give you validation (that $hit never ends well).

I do need to ask: how much time and money do you spend beautifying your mind?

How much time and money do you spend each week reading? And I don’t mean the 50 Shades kind - I mean the non-fiction kind. How much time and money do you spend each week LEARNING... taking courses, going to seminars or events? What about practising mindfulness, journaling, meditation?

I’m willing to bet for most people its way less than $260 week.

And hey, I aint judging. I love wearing makeup and getting dressed up. I enjoy feeling proud of how I present myself and feeling good about myself. Our society spends A LOT of time and money working on the outside - because we can see it, and often we don’t spend even close to the same amount of time on the inside, on our mind.

That little blob of goop up there that sits inside your skull is an effing powerhouse - your subconscious mind is so damn impressive, it performs 10 quadrillion operations per second without you even knowing it. I am saying this with a very straight face right now: your subconscious mind creates your reality. Yup. If you think you can do something, you can (obviously abiding by the laws of gravity and such). And the opposite it true too.

There is a whole lot more to life than that, which I know you know since you’re still reading this. Given your subconscious mind is that important, how about just spending a teeny amount of time and money nourishing it?

How about just starting at 10mins a day? That’s around 1hr a week. And it doesn’t even have to take up EXTRA time - you can do it on your way to work. What about putting on a podcast while you’re driving to work, or watching a TED talk while you’re sitting on the bus?

Take a quantum leap...and get the training on how to create financial independence.

Your future you will thank you for it.
