I failed at math (and why it doesn’t matter)

Mar 05, 2019

I sat at the back of maths class in high school praying no one would see my book, because otherwise they would know I had no idea what the teacher was saying! Well, they did notice…and I was was downgraded to “easy maths”.

Fast forward years later, in uni and I FAILED one of the core subjects of my degree. I literally failed the subject. I had to repeat it…and even then I didn’t do that well. That was the second major point in my life that I felt so dumb, and that I wouldn’t “make it” especially with money.

If you had met me then and told me I would go on to be a stock trader, and teach women to invest in the stock market, I would have laughed AT you. There was just no way.

I thought, surely if I suck at math that means there was no way I could work out money, investing or how to become financially independent. Have you ever felt that way?

Well, turns out I was very very wrong (thank goodness). Our educational construct is designed to teach us what the square root of pi is (I don’t know the answer by the way…because who can remember!?) and yet fails to teach us basic lessons like how to manage money and create financial independence.

So if you feel like you are really crap at math, you can’t work out numbers and you feel even a little clueless or stupid when it comes to money and investing, I want you to know you are NOT alone.

You don’t need Einstein’s brain, all you need is the step by step guide. Make this year YOUR year.

If you don't know where to start, DM me on insta or connect with me on Facebook and I can point you in the right direction!
